Celebrating 40 years
Success Story
Georgia is one of the many familiar faces of Goodwill® and she is celebrating her 17 year anniversary with Goodwill®. Georgia started with Goodwill® in September of 1991 at the Church Street location. She could do any job assigned to her, like sorting clothes from donations, hanging the clothes and getting them ready to go out in the store. She could price small wares, take them in the store and place them on the shelves. She loved to clean the jewelry. After many years of working at Church Street, Georgia was transferred to the Route 85 store to work. She has been at 85 for 10 years. She has done just about every job there also. Her favorite job is hanging baby clothes. The store customers love her and all know her by name. She currently works in processing where she hangs children’s clothes. She does a great job and her productivity continues to improve.

Goodwill® helps individuals meet their need for reliable transportation in cases where our clients have obtained employment, yet have no means of dependable transportation.  Although some may use the public transportation systems in their particular area, these routes and times of operation are somewhat limited and confine our clients to schedules which may not be suitable to their employers.

Our Solution
Through our partnership with the organization Vehicles for Change, Inc, Goodwill® is able to help subsidize the purchase of cars for a limited number of low-income clients that face transportation challenges that prevent their commute to and from work.  In addition to providing them a viable means of work transportation, this program may also enable them to utilize other necessary community resources such as childcare providers and part-time work employers.
