Goodwill® looks to open Brunswick store
Dan Kurtenbach, Goodwill® Industries of Monocacy Valley's President/CEO, told the Frederick News Post that the organization is looking for property in Frederick County, Maryland's Brunswick area on which to build "a 6,000 to 7,000-square-foot retail store and 3,000 square feet of non-retail space". The facility is part of a plan to double the number of Goodwill® stores in Frederick and Carroll Counties from four to eight.
The Brunswick facility will be a "model store" with a drive-through drop-off center, more efficient loading docks, and enough room to house all of Goodwill®'s service programs. Goodwill® chose to locate the new store in Brunswick as a way to attract middle to upper-income donors, and individuals with disabilities and disadvantaging conditions who would benefit from its employment services.
Goodwill®'s headquarters would remain at its present location at 400 East Church Street, in Frederick. The organization plans to sell its Westminster property in Carroll County to partially pay for the model store, in addition to obtaining funds from usable goods, monetary, and other donations from the local public.
