Goodwill Celebrates 20-Year Anniversary of the Passage of the ADA
Our Goodwill notes with pride the twentieth year anniversary of the passage of this federal legislation with a special proclamation from Mayor Randy McClement of Frederick. As a nonprofit serving the interests and needs of those with disabilities, we at Goodwill have the privilege of seeing the effects of this legislation in action EVERY day. While we recognize that there's still much to be done in regard to advocating for the abilities and talents of this pool of potential employees, we also know that our clients and the staff that works with them make us very proud!
3 X a Program!
Our Goodwill initiated three new programs: the S.N.A.P. MD food stamp outreach initiative, which is featured in our "career development services" area on this website; our special job development partnership with Heartly House in Frederick, designed to serve victims of domestic violence and abuse; and the "Good Guides" youth mentoring program, which is now recruiting both adult mentors and mentees (at-risk teens ages 12-17) in our two-county area.
For more information about Good Guides, contact Program Manager Rich Glover at (301) 662-0622, ext. 234 or RGlover@gimv.org. For information about the S.N.A.P. food stamp enrollment outreach program, contact Coordinator Mirgna Santiago. Heartly House clients are referred directly to us from their intake programs.
“Our 41st Year”
Goodwill® Industries of Monocacy Valley could not meet and, in some cases, exceed its benchmarks for service provision, program development, revenue growth and community impact without the ongoing cooperation of local print and broadcast media in our two-county area.
The following links provide a sampling of the coverage we have garnered for our organization this calendar year, resulting in strengthening our branded image, growing our mission-based services, building new collaborations and influencing program and policy development in our service areas.
