Dawn's Story

After successfully completing computer classes at Frederick Community College with the help of her Goodwill job coach, Dawn was hired by the USDA in May of 2005. At first, she answered phones and did other clerical tasks, but Dawn was given more responsibilities as her computer skills grew. She currently works online, looking for data errors and inconsistencies between two scientific databases. Dawn has uncovered errors in nomenclature that had been previously missed by scientists and editors. She works very hard and loves her job at the USDA.

Goodwill continues to support Dawn by helping her learn new tasks and computer skills, and providing some transportation.
