"Tina's" Story1
"Tina" was 16 years old, pregant, and in need of work. Megan, her social worker through the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, was trying to help "Tina" find a job when she realized that she would need appropriate clothing for a job interview. Megan gave "Tina" clothing certificates through Goodwill's Community Alliance to Request Emergency Services (C.A.R.E.S.) program. The clothes "Tina" purchased with her C.A.R.E.S. certificates helped her to feel confident during her job interview. She was offered and accepted a job soon after the interview.
Goodwill established the C.A.R.E.S. program to address the emergency needs of people in Frederick and Carroll Counties that could be met by Goodwill's donated goods program. This is done through partnerships with over twenty nonprofit and government agencies in the community.
