The Goodwill Fishing Guide and 2011 Annual Report
This year’s annual report centers on the philosophy, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” It is easy to connect this philosophy to Goodwill’s mission; in fact, it underscores everything we do. We believe in giving a hand up, not a handout. When people are at their lowest, we help them regain self-confidence and the courage to change their lives. We help people transition from welfare rolls to payrolls. We don’t give people jobs; instead, we give them the tools and skills they need to find jobs and to maintain successful employment.
