Help for People with Disabilities from Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley

We help put people to work. Our mission remains as simple as that, and it includes helping Carroll County and Frederick County residents with disabilities or special needs reach their potential through a variety of services and developmental programs.

Our staff works directly with individuals and their families to assess, educate, and support individuals from enrollment to graduation of our Supported Employment Program — and beyond. With customized care throughout, we focus on developing the whole person into a productive member of the community with as much independence as possible.

An initial evaluation precedes enrollment in appropriate programs within these nine areas:

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Financial literacy
  • Housing
  • Recreation
  • Relationships
  • Spirituality
  • Transportation
  • Wellness

Supported Employment Services

We guide individuals through the most appropriate clinics, courses and counseling in our program for each area, evaluating progress and revising goals as needed. Specific services we offer include:

  • Assistive and instructional technology
  • Benefits counseling
  • Job coaching
  • Job development
  • Person-centered planning
  • Job retention
  • Self advocacy
  • Skills and interests assessment
  • Soft skills development
  • Transportation training

Our offerings focus on the development of interpersonal and workplace skills, and more, as we strive to graduate participants into appropriate places of employment and support them thereafter.

Alongside our focus on the individual, we work with family members to help them best support their loved one’s progress during and after participation in our program. We counsel families on mentorship, transition services, multi-generational support and educational empowerment, among other topics.

Our graduates represent our best testaments. Watch the video below to see the inspiring story of Derek, the winner of Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley’s 2018 Graduate of the Year Award following his participation in our supported employment program.

Supported Employment Program Enrollment

We remain grateful to the following partners for their support of our Supported Employment Program:

  • Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services

Program clients enter as direct referrals from one of the organizations above, but if you know a Carroll County or Frederick County resident with a disability, please contact us.
